Nice! Did you buy this partial build from someone else or ?
I like the blue frame, maybe that will be my color choice whenever I finally purchase an SLR!

Its interesting seeing an original SLR compared to the newer Razor; the differences being (other than the body) the floor pan, original head light location, tail light location, dash binnacle, etc.
Congratulations. Cool color combo. What engine is in there?

I bought it as it stands from someone who lives/works near Fran and never got around to finishing off the build.
Somewhat scarey as bought sight unseen... Fran knows the car and kindly checked it over for me. Its going to stay with its current owner for a few weeks until it can get into Fran's shop.
Its a crate 2.0l supercharged Ecotec.

Has anyone got a pic of the slr with the rear wing.
One was included but trying to decide if I want to go with it.

Nope. But when you have a chance, I'd like to see the wing.

Found some pics of what I think is the wing on a couple of Aus builds...
Looks like there are a couple of different monting options - I pefer the "low" version.

Looks like I need to have the cross bar at the very back of the frame if I want a wing. Personally, from my two different track experiences (autoX and circuit), the down force is needed is on the front. Granted, the tires I currently have on the car have a very hard compound. But, I'd highly recommend some sort of down force on the front tires. Especially if you do track days where speeds are higher than 100 mph.
Just my opinion.

I'm leaning towards saving a few $$$s for now and not installing the wing at this stage. I'd rather focus on the stage 2 kit for the Lsj and possibly upgrading the lights to the newer style.
What have people done for the seats and seatbelts?
ViperJustin
10-17-2011, 10:52 AM
I have the hard shell seats that come with the kit. Those seats are extremely supportive from side to side, but I use a pad for lumbar and a pad for under my thighs. I can't use a normal padded seat since I'm 6'5". My head would be over the roll bar then.

My seatbelts are RJS Racing Equipment 3" 5 point harnesses.

Do yourself a favor and sell those tires whenever possible. Those are the tires that I have on my car and they are horrendous. I'd highly recommend replacing them with the Hankook RS3 tires.
The candy blue frame and arms look great. Can't wait to see it on the road.

Think you meant "Nov. 17, 2011" instead of 2010. :-D When do you think the SLR will be road-ready?

yup 2011 - I hope Fran will be done with it by early jan and possibly Xmas...
I have some finishing to do and then registration... Aiming for spring

How much does that EcoTec supercharged crate motor cost? Tried Google searching but couldn't find any prices.

03-13-2012, 07:42 PM
I think you can probably only get a LNF now.
ViperJustin
03-13-2012, 08:00 PM
You can pick up the LNF from ebay for 2k to 5k, depending on condition, mileage, etc. I don't think you can buy it as a crate motor. The LSJ motor produces less power than the LNF, but it's easier to produce more power out of them. Also, they aren't as fussy as the LNF.

Did you send the headers, supercharger accessories, etc to Fran? I'm really curious to see how your LSJ-powered SLR performs. If it's ANYTHING like my LNF Razor, you're going to be in for one HECK of a treat!!!!!!

Bit of a shame the fonts arn't the same - but still look good.

Digidash has the fuel gauge. It reads in percentage. Luckily, having a ten gallon tank makes the math easy.
Overall, sounds like a moderate amount of work left to do. I hope it gets done for the summer driving season!

I don't know specifically about the ones he has pictured but the ones I have listed in my post (http://www.exocars.net/showpost.php?p=26180&postcount=6) which are of similar design are IP67 rated (http://aceeca.com/handhelds/ip67). I think that should be sufficient as long as you don't try to go amphibious with your car.
But I'd verify with the manufacturer to be sure.
Question: What are the amp rating for those switches? The ones I am looking at are 5A max.

Nice setup, looking at your pictures, what tires are you using and what sizes are they. I know the upgraded wheels are 18x8.5 fronts, but trying to figure out if the rears are wider (18x10?).
Thanks.
