KTM and the X-Bow

Around 50 years after the last Austrian car was made, KTM hits the ground, launching it’s all new KTM X-Bow – and finally brings back an all Austrian vehicle with four wheels on to the international market. Being such an extraordinary product as the X-Bow is, makes it’s debut even more remarkable. Penned by KTM design genius Gerald Kiska, who had the idea of the radical lightweight sports car together with KTM-CEO Stefan Pierer, the KTM X-Bow has created a worldwide sensation with it’s revolutionary concept, extraordinary look and amazing performance. Now, as the first vehicles leave the brand new factory in Graz (Styria) and are handed over to the customers, one shouldn’t forget that the KTM X-Bow saw the light of day – fully according to the KTM slogan “Ready to Race” – on the racetrack!

KTM and the FIA-GT-Series

Although conceived as a road vehicle, it is blessed with racing-genes and going racing was a logical step. Together with the experienced GT team, Reiter Engineering, KTM searched for the ideal racing category for the X-Bow – and very quickly decided that the ideal platform for the X-Bow would be the GT4 European Cup organised by the SRO with Stephane Ratel.

At the opening round of the 2008 series at Silverstone, our racing drivers Catharina Felser, Christopher Haase and Dennis Retera were able to show the potential of the X-Bow by finishing in the top 10 overall, and winning the Sports Light class. Since then, consistent top-ten results have followed with an overall podium finish at the Monza round being our proudest achievement to date. In the overall standings of the “Sports Light” category, KTM’s three race drivers are currently holding the top three places.

KTM Customer Racing Service

With the introduction of the KTM Customer Racing Service, KTM intends to create a new service in national and international racing. Based at the parent plant in Graz, customers from all over the world will be offered a racing service which of course also extends to race weekends. Whether in the GT4 European Cup, the ADAC GT Masters or at selected races like the 24 hour race at the Nürburgring, the KTM Customer Racing Service will be there with at least one truck, a complete crew, an extensive amount of spare parts and technical support for all teams.

Looking further ahead, KTM is working to make the entry into GT racing within the GT4 European Cup even more attractive by introducing a GT4 specific “Sports Light” category in each country where a GT racing series exists or is planned. In addition, we are also looking into what other higher categories the KTM X-Bow could compete in. This will ensure that KTM X-Bow customers are not only “Ready to Race” immediately, but also have the opportunity to maximise and sustain their investment into the future.
