Looks like a great start. Have you decided on what engine package you're going with?

Ford Focus and the Duratec engine.

I have written up a lot of info on wiring in another forum in Australia. I will post some of it here some time.

If you don't have to be a member to view that forum then post a link.

Is this just a one off, or do you have grander plans?
What kind of front suspension is that?

After looking at the cad plans, I'm wondering the same thing. Maybe the view is off?

In Australia (My state has harder to meet rules than others) you need to prove your car is safe. To do this you need to have an certified engineer approve your design. I have a different engineer drawing it up and testing stages.

In a few years the rules will be relaxed but right now it is almost impossible to register an Atom but I believe others are trying. It is mostly due to seatbelt and seat anchor points AFAIK and Torsional stiffness of the chassis.

So I wanted something like an Atom and here I am.

We will see what the reaction is over time.

Uprights (spindles) and control arms are Toyota Supra. Some control arms are non standard and require FEA testing.

Ford Focus - http://www.exocars.net/showthread.php?t=11281
- Engine and Box
- steering column as it is linked to security
- cluster - security links again
- electrics 98%

Lights will be after market but legally tested for Australian roads.

Seats are Smart Forfour with rear view mirrors and other odd bits. (tested and proven items for Australia)

Frame is engineered 51mm 1.6mm RHS and 38mm 1.6 RHS. Roll bar to follow.

Floor Aluminium sheet. I was going to use Aluminium honeycomb but the chassis torsional stiffness is very strong already. 5 times stronger that the rules amazingly according to CAD and FEA analysis. There are additional none destructive tests to prove safety to come.

It is quite hot outside tonight so I hit the steering column with paint.
