I have a superlite roadster I am working on and I can not figure out how the ez wiring harness works. i am not sure how the wiring kit gets power from the battery it does not show it in the instruction book

I'm assuming you should have power going from your battery to a fuse/relay box. From there, the wires should go out to the rest of the car.

Later, Steve

If you need to take a look at mine, you're welcome to come by. PM me if you want.

Justin I might have to take you up on that and swing by again.
I called the ez wiring place and they helped me some but i dont like the electrical part of building.

I completely agree with you there. Everything BUT the electrical is dialed in on my car. I'm available next Tuesday if that works for you.

If I was in Vegas I'd offer my assistance (Electrical Engineer here). I think the electrical wiring will be the easy part for me when/if I ever get a SLR. Could you post some pics of the diagrams you are working on?

I actually got some help from someone after I posted and have a better idea how to proceed. but i will probably get stuck again some point. I will keep you updated
http://www.clparts.com/pdfs/ez_wire_wm.pdf here is the manual they sent . mine did not come with the last two pages though

I have most of the wiring for the car done now. I just need to figure out wiring the engine. the plug that connects to the alternator has been cut and I cant figure out where the wires from it connect to.

Does anyone know how to or if you can hook up the 4G63 1G motor without he body wiring harness?

Sorry, I don't know. You could check on dsmtuners, I'm sure someone on there would know.

There are effectively two main wiring harnesses in a DSM. You need only the wiring harness that plugs directly into the ECU itself. A secondary wiring harness plugs into a connector on this first one, but that is for ancillary devices which you won't need in order for the engine to run. This is all dependent, of course, on having a fuse box and the appropriate "base" wiring in place for battery, ground, lights, etc.

I thought the obd port was on the secondary along with the wires that give the ecu power. am I wrong? if so how does the ecu receive power? I did post on the dsm site.

The ODB is actually off of the internal fuse box through yet another harness. Personally, I had no intention of using it in my project, but perhaps I'll rip it out of the donor car just in case. The main wiring harness for the ECU goes to the fuse box in the engine compartment which is where the main battery and ground leads are.

And perhaps I should clarify that I'm talking about a 2G DSM setup out of a '97 Talon. Perhaps 1G setups are different. If they are, I apologize for the confusion.

what did you do with the connector for the alternator in this picture if you did not use the wiring harness it is connected to? or is it different for the 2g

My alternator connectors like these are on my main harness. I'll see if I can grab a photo for you this week.

Any attempts at starting your beast up?

I am having trouble with the ECU not getting power i think. It has the constant 12v and switched 12v and start 12v hooked up but still does not seem to want to do anything and i am 100% sure the ECU is good. the diagnostic ports are not putting out power so this is why i think the ECU is not getting power

Since there isn't much of a response from here, Id try going to a Mitsubishi forum and searching there. I wish I could help, but I'm not too familiar with the electronics on 4Gs.

Might need to power your diag connector separately
