The official price of the turn key engine is still pending. What do you think a fair price of a turn key, dynod, warranted 230 hp New Honda engine should cost?

From hmotorsonline.com you can get a used K20A type R engine used with 25,000 miles for $5500. This includes 6-speed LSD tranny, alternator, starter, clutch, flywheel, ECU, half shafts, all sensors and an optional shifter box and cables. I think that's everything you need to drop it right in. This also comes with a warranty. Personally, I don't think I'd pay more than $6500 for all of that stuff brand new. That of course is for the 220 hp version.

This engine will have a supposed mileage warranty. That might be worth more to some and less to others. It will be interesting where the price ends up at. I do think as the demand increases for the K20a prices will go up even further. Reminds me of the G50 and the Factory Five GTM trans prices.

I dont know if the demand will go up significantly enough to raise prices. There are going to be few slr owners compared to the huge pool of people already looking to swap their civic engine out. SLR owners also have the choice of using a different engine where as with the GTM you had to buy the g50. Also there are a lot more k20 engines out there then g50s. Just my guess.
I'd say aroujnd $6000 for the package. Allowing for a few odds and ends it would be nice to be able to put an SL-R on the road for around $25k.
Figure it as follows:
SL-R roller $16,000
Shipping $1,000
Engine / trans / ECU etc... $6000
Registration fees $1500
miscellaneous (3rd brake light etc...?) $500.
My guesses at the costs are probably light, but if I guess $25k and it costs $30k that would be fine.
Now you can get the VQ35DE with engine / trans / ECU for around $3500 and have 260hp / 220 or so torque.... Use the difference for a supercharger or turbo down the road....
