What do you guys think of installing a stereo in the SL-R? I went to an audio store the other day to look at navigation for our 4Runner, and ended up talking to the guy about the SL-R. He told me that they would be able to install a waterproof custom stereo. The only thing I would be worried about is having this nice stereo right out in the open for somebody to swipe. I would never think of doing this if I lived in California, but here in south east Idaho, people tend to be pretty honest. If I had a nice V-8 to listen to I think i could manage without a stereo, however a little honda 4-banger isn't the prettiest thing to listen to.

If you want music, get a helmet, and ipod and an autocom setup.

Agreed. The good thing about this is that you can also communicate with the person next to you and your friends on their bikes behind you. :thumb2: oh yeah you can also hook up your cell phone.

I have my autocom in my atom hooked up for driver to passenger, car to car with 2 way radios, audio from the radar detector and GPS and the ipod all going through the system into headphones.

It's classical conditioning, just like Pavlov's dog. Once you get used to that sound being associated with a power:weight ratio equivalent to a Corvette with ~800hp, it will start to sound awfully beutiful.

In the Atom, its the supercharger 6 inches from your head

That's a pretty sweet set up you got there bolus. How does the IPod sound through the autocom? I've heard some of the atom guys complain about the quality of music through the autocom. They make it sound like you're listening to the radio through a walkie-talkie.

Hopefully you're right BSchoolProf. Cuz right now whenever I hear a Honda 4-banger images of bright neon green civics with huge wings come to mind.

On the highway it was pretty much useless with the wind noise and the type of helmet I have. Driving around town though it is pretty good. Pretty much any headphone is going to sound bad when you are sitting inches from an engine. For communication it is fine but not that great for music

One does not buy a bad-A, giant go-kart that will kill any other road car if he/she wants to listen to the radio. That's just...silly...

Done quite a few trips in similiar vehicles and music is definitely a nice thing to have.

I will just use an MP3 player with a single earpiece...simple and effective.

I agree. A built in stereo contradicts the theme of simplicity that is integral to these cars.

That is not to say I would never do it, or that I don't think it would be a great addition... I just know what I prefer at the moment.

We almost built a stereo system for the Atom. We had all the parts.

I'd like to have a stereo in my SL-R. We'll see if there is a decentplace to put an amp and a few speakers when it arrives. Not real high on the priority list, but something I would like.

Imagine sticking your head out of your current car window. Now imagine sticking your head out of your car window and trying to listen to music lol. Remember there is still no windshield available as of yet. I think the best possible option would be for head phones and a helmet. You can input your mp3 player on many communicator devices also. Im not saying it wouldn't be cool to roll around at slow speeds in this bad ass car with some good music playing, im just saying thats not a good enough reason for the weight of speaker magnets:spin2:.

It just doesn't work unles you are moving at 15mph or less, or parked. Anything above that and wind noise kills the sound. If you had a very serious winshield it might be better. Still, it would be fun to roll up to a drive in eating joint/etc. and play your favorite tunes. Great for showing off the car if you can play your own theme music... LoL

Trust Gage and I who have driven Atom's. Above 30 mph you can shout as loud as you can to your passenger and it is nearly impossible to hear. You wont be happy with a stereo in the car. plus you'll have to turn it up so loud that you are just going to attract unwanted attention (police)

yeah the wind noise is going ot be crazy. i guess a helmet and some headphones might have to work.
