Well, I'm slowly wearing down the wife to let me order the SL-R. As soon as final pics come out I'll be placing an order! However, I do have a big question for all of the people that take their cars to the track. I was hoping to take the SL-R down to the Larry H. Miller racetrack in Salt Lake City for their open track days. A quote from their website says: "All street-legal cars with a hard top are eligible. All convertibles must have roll-over protection, either a factory deployable system or a roll bar with a minimum of 4 mounting points. " I'm wondering if the SL-R's roll bar would be considered having 4 mounting points with that cross-bar in the back. Also, do you think the double adjustable shocks would be worth the money for a very casual track car?

The 4 mounting points would be a good question for LM race track people:pray:
Having talked with Fran about the specifics on the shocks, he suggest "well worth the upgrade, especially if you are tracking the car"
Chadillac what engine are you looking at?

How acceptable would a removable roll cage be? It could be made to clamp onto the existing frame and provide the necessary support w/o the distracting (attracting for the cops) appearance of a permanent cage. It could be made so that it could be removed for casual driving and then installed for track days. I'm trying to provide alternatives to having Fran spend more design time on changes.

I've sat in the SL-R. I don't think those hoops behind the seats would be high enough to be considered roll bars. Just my opinion.

I think having a removable cage is an awesome idea. I'm thinking welding some brackets to the frame and then bolting on the cage shouldn't be too hard. I've got access to a welder, pipe bender and powder coating.
They're starting races this month, I'll find out if having a removable cage would be acceptable. I'd imagine so since a deployable roll bar is not welded to the frame.

I think a removable roll cage is a great idea:thumb2:
I am wondering if a roll cage would of helped with the Atom accident on the Atom thread? :shurg:

Do you think his car insurance will go up?... I suppose that race cars should have pontoons just in case there's a flood while sitting in the car?
This isn't intended to be a flame...just a little ribbing.
The tragic truth is that a cage probably would have helped protect Jason Workman but one cannot plan for freaks. Jason could have stayed at home in the Lazy Boy and had a tree fall on him in which case a cage would help then too. I know you Karlo. You"re just jerking my chain...and I'm responding just cause I can.
That really was a lightning strike situation.

I Love it! That will be perfect. Will that be an extra option as well?

EVERY chassis already has the removable arched rear crossbrace and also the two roll hoop mounting feet....
The roll hoop can be installed for a track day and removed within 5 minutes and the road car rear brace reinstalled....
We planned on having this available but as you guys were asking I decided to let you in on the deal....
Now form an orderly line and place your orders.......:coolnana:
LoL Fran is a good listener.

Figure it'd be powdercoated the same color as the frame, no?
Is that white part in the pictures a body panel for the F-1 style body??? I'm dying to know! The roll bar looks great too.
