The Superlite Roadster will be Not be at Knotts April 26-27.
Do to part suppliers, the Superlite Roadster will not make it to Knotts. There some things that we can control and other we cannot. Bugger. We all had plans including Fran and Me, but you cannot show an unfinished car.

Is Fran going to be bringing any of his other cars?
That is great news. I think my wife and I may have to go to that.
California is just plain beautiful anyway.. Add in a car show and it only gets better.

Yes, 2-3 GT40's, I think.

Well, the wife and I are planning on going and possibly baby. We'll see you guys down there. I only wish that Fran decides to bring one of his SL-C's. After the SL-R, that's what I'm saving up for next.

I guess that means I probably won't be seeing the final product until it's sitting in my driveway.

This whole mystery mumbo jumbo is really starting to get old and annoying. Pictures and a complete version were supposed to be released a month and a half ago. Now were looking at the end of April. :thumbdown2:

I think we call it build up :btyping: to help keep the interest.

I think we are only talking about the Knott's specific cars.
As far as I'm aware there is no restriction on photos of the SL-R and body work as delivered to customers. So as soon as the first customer car is produced there will be photos available. But as per the topic you won't see Knott's vehicle photos until the event has started.
I haven't even been game to ask Fran how many orders he has for these vehicles. I've personally ordered 6 cars, but there are quite a few local USA orders in front of mine. Luckily he has the processes and resources to produce the SL-R quickly and efficiently.
I know that Fran has been focussed on delivering a quality product first, promotion, photos etc will take a back seat.
So we will try to get photos and full details out as soon as possible. So please hang in there.

I agree but I was under the impression that Fran was stock piling the body panels? If so there would surely be a completed slr. Maybe he just wants to show everything at the same time for a kit car mag article which I could understand as a marketing ploy. :shurg:

I'm certainly not aware of any restrictions on posting images of the body parts.
It's not something I've been particularly focussed on, I've been spending my energies on getting them sorted and approved for our market. So I'm not worried about finished photos and have not asked for any.
Either way, I can ensure you that you won't have to wait long now. :D Please by patient.

I visited the shop yesterday and thought the only way there would be an SL-R at Knott's is if he has a finished one hiding out back. Is there a hold-up with the body panel supplier? It seems like pretty much everything else is available.

The list of supply companies that are not following through are frustrating.
In all fairness, the car manufacturing business is no different than the house building business.( What I do) When you have so many parts / variables, when one supplier drops the ball it affects everyone in line. But once everyone gets in line and produces it goes relatively quick.

That's good to hear about the powder coating. It seems to me that building the frame would be hardest part. Not too much longer!

Our frame was finished on Tuesday. :D Great work Fran(and co). :thumb2:
Looks like we are all in the first batch. :)
You guys have the advantage of not having to ship it as far though. :(

:cool3::cool3::cool3: indeed!
If the car can be done in two weeks as discussed Wednesday that would be really close to the initial time estimate, so no delays perceived from this customer.

sure we cant get a sneak peak picture? Maybe a tiny section of a body panel?
I told Fran I would follow his lead, but if he tells me it is okay to show the pictures when I get a car, I'll do it as soon as it arrives.

well then i guess ill have to wait till the 26th for pictures. Im really excited about this and i havent even put in my own order yet.

I think Fran is just concentrating on getting the initial orders sorted. Which I expect suits the initial buyers just fine.
Once he has everything in place to take suitable body shots he will. I don't think there is any requirement to wait to the 26th April now.
I've now ordered an additional 7 x SL-Rs for Aus. Half are pre-sold. Getting in before the rush. :D

My wife and I just got back from knottsberry this weekend. Even though Fran and the SL-R weren't there it was pretty fun. I did get to see a RCR GT40. I have to say it was on of the nicest car there. Looking at all of the cars you can tell there is a wide variety of quality from all of the "kit car" companies.

Any Pictures from Knotts?

These were my favorite cars at the show. The GT40 is a RCR. I loved the license plate on the Daytona Coupe.
Nice pictures! Is that Lotus 7 replica a Brunton Stalker?

I'm not sure about the lotus 7. I remember looking at the manufacture hoping to remember by the time I got home, but I can't. It was extrememly nice though. I think if I wasn't getting the SL-R I'd be looking into getting a lotus 7 replica or a Factory Five Daytona Coupe.

It looks like a WCM Seven to me.

I think you're right Karlo. Looking at their website it looks like it's around $40,000. No wonder it was so nice.
