Question
Are all K engines Drive by Wire?

pretty sure any of the k20ax are still cable. i just gota look up some stuff first.
I think all the K20A series are cable, the K20Z3 I have is DBW. So it will be interesting to see how the thing is installed. If I want to ditch it I have to get an RSX ECU and TB. Would that change the power / rev limit of the engine if I changed the ECU? I plan on trying to use the DBW at first since it is easier I think compared to ditching all of that and changing to a different ECU right away.
Also, with the engine in the rear of the car how do the shifter cables work to provide a correct shift pattern? Are they looped over the engine to enter the transmission from the back or do you shift in a different pattern? I would think the Atom has a similar arrangement.

shift pattern should be the same, linkage should just attach to it going forwards in stead of it going backwards.

Cable driven would be alot easier. The DBW / ECU will still have to have the Hondata K-pro mod or the like from my understanding.
It will be interesting:hscratch: BT you are the Man :lift: to figure it out for all of us :thumb2:

Ah, I understand that now. I will probably have to do something with the brackets since they are made to receive the cables from the back of the trans. But at least I think I know what to do.
When the time comes I will photodocument all the little details that need to be done for fitting one of these engines up.

there isnt a k-pro out for the DBW yet, only the cable ecus.

The KPRO does not control DBW.
All K series engines produced AFTER 2006 are DBW. With the exceptions of the 06 Civic Si... it is DBW.
On the contrary, I have an 06 RSX Type S that is not DBW.
In any case it is easy to change, just change the throttle body and ECU... depending on which ECU and engine you are using.. it can affect the performance. KPRO is the only real option other than the JDM Type R (PRC) computer. For example, if you have a stock TSX K24A2, I would not recommend using a Type R K20A computer. The fuel trims, maps, ignition/timing tables and rev limits are very different.

That is a picture of a K20A swapped into a Toyota MRS. It's a vague picture but you can see the shift mechanism that was made to adapt the opposite side shift pattern. Something like this will probably be the easiest solution.

^ Yeah, we need to get some plans for that shift mechanism. I guess there are a ton of solutions, you just need to get the kinetics right so you have a 1:1 ratio.
