Here is a car that I have been working on, the project started as a single seater reverse trike 3 wheeler and morphed into this. I am planning on hayabusa or ZX14 powerplant and most of the suspension is custom designed. I am using donor hubs, diff and steering rack.
I am not sure about which direction to go with the bodywork, I have been staring at this for too long! Let me know what you think (I will appreciate any feedback, even the negative!).

Welcome
Your cad design seems to have good start. What is your time line in building your creation?
The body seems to me big / wide, maybe it is my eye. What if the top body stops to the interior side rails?

Thanks for the input, I think this body does make the car look wider than it is.
My time line is probably based more upon my daughter and my soon to be born son/daughter (this comes third to family and work). Probably 2-5 yrs to finish the design and build. I have so far only machined brake brackets (on my home brew cnc mill, another project that I am still working on) and I have purchased the shocks, steering rack and steering wheel. But I do have the big chunks of aluminum for most of the machined pieces (2X6 in section for the uprights!).
I am trying to lock in the chassis design so I can start getting some tubing rolled and start having some fun with the welding.

I like it! It seems like the motor may want to rotate towards the back a little more to have better access to the heads. It will raise the center of gravity slightly, but I would do it anyway for easy maintenance / repair. Or if the seat is easily removed you could work on it that way too. Have fun!

Here is what I had started designing, initially I was interested in a Radical SR3 like car. Then my interests turned toward a 3 wheeled single seater exo car. I still think the 3 wheeler would be an awesome car, I am kind of torn between the two cars. I think its nice to be able to carry a passenger. I would probably be building the 4 wheeler design below if it didn't take so much time and money to make a decent body.
Those first sketches of the reverse trike design are somewhat similar to the Peugeot 20CUP that has just been announced.

Ya, there are a few others also, VW's GX3 and the SUB are 2 other pretty cool looking 3 wheelers. I had designed a reverse-trike 3 wheeler solar car in college and the biggest problem we had was the CG ended up too close to the front wheels so during braking the weight transfer created a dangerous situation were the car would easily spin. I had read that the Peugeot 20CUP had a similar problem. With the exo 3 wheeler I was working on I tried to keep the weight evenly distributed between the 3 wheels to minimize the tendency to spin out under heavy braking.

Hi Aaron,
Nice project and I like the idea of a 3wheeler that trasforms into a 4wheeler very much.
Looking forward to more of your Cad work and if you're interested, I could work out a few rough sketches of mine for your chassis, just for fun of it......:)
Cheers
Italo
I like the new two seater four wheeler design. Please keep us updated on your project.
