I've got my frame drawn in Solidworks, with correct cross sections and material and all that, BUT I don't have Cosmos (the built in FEA), I just have the student version. What's the best way to do an FEA on the frame, considering the format?

I could export the frame as a number of different file types, but I haven't found any decent/easy to use free FEA packages...

I'm mostly interested on torsional stiffness from back to front, in ft-lbs/degree.

Thoughts?

thanks!

Jesse

Jesse, the best way is to find someone who has Cosmos! Do you know an instructor or someone who also has SW?

Yeah, I kinda figured as much.. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with access, and I'm not sure what else I might be able to use. Thought about taking another class in solidworks for some fea experience, maybe this is the time to do it, lol

Theres a couple of Guys around who have done some studies on the Locost frame and if you try the major forums for those you may be able to ask for a hand from them, just a thought.
