Here is an LS7 Fiero I've been keeping an eye on: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=886893 This build is obviously high dollar but an aluminum 5.3 and an F40 (Ebay $300-$400) plus the trans adapter could be an interesting option.

More on this subject.

So you've confirmed with Fran that it would fit? :D

I wonder if the Deronda people have thought of this option?

There is a part of me that would try it just for sound alone. Very few things sound so good as a growling V-8.

And for those who don't know:

Wikipedia:
The LS2 was introduced as the Corvette's new base engine for the 2005 model year. It produces 400 hp (298 kW) at 6000 rpm and 400 ft·lbf (542 N·m) at 4400 rpm from a slightly larger displacement of 6.0 L (364.3 in³). It is similar to the high-performance LS6, but with an improved power peak and more torque throughout the rpm range. The E-series HSV's are equipped with a 412 hp (307 kW) and 406 ft·lbf (550 Nm) version.

An LS2 with headers and and heads/cam package would be incredible in one of these cars.

Of course that engine package would make around 500 crank hp. It's just a shame that we can't get a transverse manual transmission that is up to the task. :)

Well, what about the transmission they are using on that transverse adapter plate and LS7? How much power will it take to break that one?

Gage,

I believe when I e-mailed Archie last year about that transaxle, he said it was a Pontiac G6 unit rated for 280 lb/ft of torque. They have used it in 400hp applications, but I would doubt the reliability of the unit with 500 hp and good traction.
