I viewed a video of guy in his Atom using a mask instead of helmet. I can see the benefit with it being cooler in the summer. These are from Paintball.

Karlo, funny you mention masks.
I was thinking about exactly the same thing over the weekend, but hadn't thought of the paintball masks though.

I was going to ask this one too. Now here in the states. Would be still beable to use a Bike Helmet for these or would we have to get a different DOT helmet?

im sure in the states you wouldnt have to wear any helmet to drive it.
We always went one of two ways in the Atom. If on the highway at high speeds, a helmet was used. If we were just driving around town we used a pair of good wrap around sunglasses that kept out the wind. They were also saftey/impact rated. Really the only thing we ever worried about was the occassional flying pebble, bug, or sand. The sunglasses repelled all of those. But, debrii in the face was extremely rare. It is way, way, more confortable to ride in sun glasses than a helmet.
The full face masks are nearly as uncomfortable as a helmet in my opinion, but very effective. (have tried them)
Then there is the guy on the Atom forum who had a humming bird or some other kind of bird hit him beak first in his cheek at 70 miles per hour. The birds beek was imbedded deep in his cheek bone and he had to get plastic surgery. Funny story.

F'n OUCH MAN!!!
I was planning on driving around in my SLR with a full race helmet and most likely a motorcycle suit. Roads around here are notorious for small rocks & debris. I'd really REALLY hate to get hit by rocks, sticks, or a friggin BIRD!!! LOL That is a funny story, but OUCH. I know it'll be hot as I'm in Texas, but that may just be a sacrafice I'm going to have to live with.

Yeah. i mean this would be a summer car. i was thinking about wearing a full helmet cause i would drive it on the highway for a bit and then just around town in a full wrap-around glass. Yeah i was also thinking about the Full face mask like mention above with paint ball masks.

From experience with driving these sorts of cars, you also make sure you hang well back from other cars in front. Especially trucks as they tend to whip up debris etc off the road and up into your face.
So if you are careful you can limit your exposure to this sort of stuff. Plus it saves the car also from extra stone chips.
But you will still get some debris.
And watch for those freaking birds. :nervous:
