There is something visually attractive to me with the non digital gages. See Pics below.

It is much easier to see when you have to shift with analog gauges.

There's a website I found that sells a tachometer with some pretty nifty features at www.gtechpro.com. It's called the g-techpro egs.

I can see where Karlo is heading, use the instrument panel from the same car you get the engine from. From the labelling, the top one is a Honda Type R instrument panel.

It would be easy to get working except for the fuel sender. You would need to be able to fit the factory fuel sender to the SL-R tank or come with a suitable sender compatible with that gauge.

The analog instruments have their advantages, but from experience you need to do some nice fabrication work on the dash to make them look like they were supposed to be there, instead of just hacked in.

You do lose some of the extra features present in the digital instrument cluster.

Interesting idea. I wonder how much 2nd hand analog instrument panels sell for, they would be readily available I expect.

Not too expensive.

Yeah, that's cheap. Although I prefer the white backed gauges these days.

The odometer will also be more than likely wrong as well.

I wonder if these days the ECU keeps the mileage or it's still done in the cluster.

No big deal though.

I will talk to the wire harness guy and see what his experience is with stock clusters.

I do like the TSX gauges. I wonder if it is possible? Yet another fun thing to research.

I would have to replace the little Car Icon with a boost indicator or something similar. = )

Its perfect for me. A stock 2.4 liter supercharged with a rotrex pegging out at 8000 rpms would be more than enough. I might even limit it to7500 to 7800 tops. I can't afford to rebuild my engine as often as higher rpms would require. More importantly, I'm running the stock engine components for as long as I can. After a long happy period of thrashing the stock motor and saving more money I'll do one heck of an engine rebuild.

Afterall, the Atom only hit a 7400 with the Ecotec. (or something round about that) It was a beast.

With that said.. Stat, you'll probaby be going with a higher winding K20ish (laughs at hgh rpms) variant. Everyone loves rpm screamers. :D
I'm sure it will thrill and kill just as effectively if not better than my humble low reving cousin.

And yes.. A 10K Tach just looks bad to the bone. I am aware. =)

I'm planning to build the dashboard for my V Storm entirely from old aircraft instruments and switches. I'm not sure of the practicality of the idea, so far I have a starter button from a Spitfire, a gun sight selector switch from a Gloster Meteor and a Tacho from a Lancaster. The starter switch is nothing more than a push button, the gunsight selector switch has 4 positions which I hope to make off/side/dip/main for the lights. The tacho may be a bridge too far, it is electronic, but if I cant make sense of it I'll rip the guts out and just use the facia and needles. I'm after a port/starboard fuel selector for the indicators and a speedometer from something exotic. Other than that I might get a fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge. In the UK I need warning lights for indicators, main beam, rear fog and low brake fluid and a switch for the rear fog. After that it's on to the windscreen wiper switch, interior light, passenger glove box light, cup holder illumination and a beepy noise to tell you you've left the key in the ingnition!
