Hopefully there will be even more pics soon. I am hoping to get the engine running during this week and next weekend should get the bodywork so will soon start to fit that.

Well done Gary! Just in case anyone on th forum is wondering what's happening with the the 'other' V Storm build, I'm currently in Qatar sheltering from the doom and gloom of the sub prime economic fiasco, but will return mid November, suitably financially recharged, for 2 weeks R&R, so should be able to mechanically complete my V Storm then, I'll post progress when complete, Rob

Hi all just thought I'd do an update as been ages since I posted anything.

Since last time I have attempted to drive my car to the SVA test twice with breakdowns within a few miles of setting off. Both times it has been to do with the clutch. The first time the outer clutch plate slipped out of place preventing the clutch from engaging. The second time the clutch was slipping, but managed to crawl back home. These problems are simply set-up issues, I now think I have the stop on the clutch set right to prevent from causing problem again.

After this I decided to trailer the car to the test and had my first test at the end of January. This was quite successful although I did fail. Most of the things were simple bits requiring extra tie wraps and p clips in a few places. The only big failure at this point was the emissions.

I had already got a Gunson Gastester for reading CO levels so I also got hold of a lambda sensor kit. With this I spent some time trying to set-up the fuel levels but got nowhere with the emissions. As a last ditch effort I tried Shells V-Power petrol instead of the normal 95 octane to see if it would burn any cleaner. This gave some positive results although still looked a long way off. I then found that BP sell 102 octane at a massive £2.40 per litre. With ten litres of this in and a bit more testing I felt ready to try the SVA again.

My second SVA test was just 2 days ago. After quickly going over the few items from the previous SVA fail it was time for emissions. Initially this did not look promising but thankfully the test station are very helpful and after about half hour we managed to get the emissions numbers to drop in. I'm now not sure if the petrol helped or not but the key thing here is the heat in both engine and the cat, by the time we were able to pass the engine coolant was up to 106°C.

With the emissions now complete I was told the car had passed and was issued the MAC certificate. Now all that's left is the registration which will hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks and then I can start to enjoy the car.

So far I have driven the car for less than 10 miles so don't know what it is really capable of but first impressions are good. I'll report more on driving when I have covered some real miles in the car. I'll also get more photos of the car whilst out and about.

Thanks for the update B69, bet it turns heads where ever you go!

Did you weigh it as part of the process? can we know!?

It's not been seen much yet as only been on the road on the back of a transporter but even then it was getting a fair bit of attention. Can't wait to have it on the road and get the full experience.
The car is weighed in the SVA but foolishly I never asked what it came to. Will try and find a weighbridge to chuck it on as soon as I can.

Thanks Simon.
Should make Prestwold Hall, only about 20mins away from me. Let me know the date as soon as you know so I can make sure to get the time off from work.

Been to registration office today with the paperwork, booked in to go back with the car for inspection on the 19th so hopefully be on the road then. Quite good timing as got annual leave the week after so with a bit of luck on the weather front can get a good few miles on the car, and of course plenty of photos.

Car is now registered and road legal. :)

Been for a very short drive to petrol station and back home. Just under 5 miles but still the longest journey it has done without problems. Was a great feeling filling it up with everyone around having a good look.

Ran it up to 70, pulled really well and consistent all the way. Alignment is all out at the moment but seemed to cope alright at the normal road speeds.

Now need some good weather so I can do some real miles in it, and get some pictures of it in the sun.

Unfortunately I don't have a decent video camera and not got the finances to buy one so no videos anytime soon.
