Love the car in the insert pictures, but who's is it? Any info on that car. The guy posting is building a totally different car.
Clapping!!!
I love it as well.

I like it. have a look at the whole thread, a lot to learn there.
Looks like a simple car but they went through a lot of design changes to reach that simplicity, I know the feeling - start at the wrong end everytime!
Yes. I have great respect for how simple it is. To my untrained eye I think it is nearly perferct as it sits.

I just wish I could keep interested in a project that long. The tread was started October '06. But it is a SWEEEET looking car.

It's like this guy started building a car from Legos and then suddenly someone came along from a design studio and helped him out for a bit. The close-to-final product looks awesome, but nothing like the predecessor.

Yep James has got it registered now after many headaches.
One of the sweetest Exo's around although I still can't go for sill less designs.

Hi all, The build is mine - can't believe I've not seen this site until recently! I've made a post with all the details...

I've kept a running build diary of this project over at www.locostbuilders.co.uk (http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk), but thought you might be interested in the final product...
The project started when I was 21 as an offroad buggy inspired by the likes of the bike engined Rage, but slowly became it's current design as an ultra lightweight 4 wheeled superbike. I've learnt a lot on the way - I look upon some of my earlier work with embarassement, but I'm proud of the final result
It's a GSXR 1100cc engine delivering approx 160bhp through a chain modified Cosworth limited slip diff. Wet weight is approx 350kg, resulting in over 450bhp/ton in it's current NA setup
The design whilst having obvious parallels with the likes of the atom, is completely my own, having gone through 3 CAD revisions and 2 physical!
A few pics:
60 comes up in little over 3 seconds, and it negotiates corners at a frankly frightening rate, I can't wait to get it to a track! It handles somewhat differently to most "Caterham" type kits, being mid engined and having a slightly shorter wheel base.
There are build pictures, CAD designs and videos at www.wr4.co.uk (http://www.wr4.co.uk)
I've been asked a few times if I intend to produce kits or turn-key cars from this prototype. It's not something i'd thought about, and its certainly not something I'm set up for (I built this in my garage, with a rudimentary toolset!) It might be an option to team up with a pre-established kit manufacturer. Would be interesting to hear what you guys would think of such a kit if made available?

I like it, looks awesome.
Very impressive, and I'm amazed by the weight. Isn't 350 Kg about 770 pounds?

Personally, I think this design builds upon the Atom. In other words, at least from an aesthetic standpoint, this car looks better than an Atom. But cars and kits aren't just about looks.
I'm curious--what design software? SolidWorks? ACAD?
Also, I saw the earlier frame design--it looked like a completely different car! What do you attribute to the change in design?

It's 3d Studio and Solidworks for FEA, Mainly it was learning, as you went along you looked back and decided you could do this better or that better, and eventually I decided to just start again, using what i'd learnt the first time..
I've just come back from a 250mile trip, which puts the odo at about 1000 miles :)

James, it says something to me that you went back, took your time, and improved on just about everything. Great job.
