As most of you know, I am situated on the permanently dark side of our lovely planet, Africa. Just yesterday, at a local car show, where we had our handy-work on show to the public for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised to meet one of the very few Ariel Atom owners in South Africa. He Seemed to also be pleasantly surprised by what he saw, especially the windshield part.

We spent a good 1\2 hour chatting, and eventually the Fenders came up for discussion. He noticed our fenders being custom made for the rubber we use, and that it is actually exactly the correct size for the rubber we use. He also mentioned that he had gone through quite a couple of them, as they get trashed, apparently by stones getting picked up and pulled in between the tire and it.... so He was kind of wondering if I could make him a couple of custom sets, that would actually fit properly over the rubber he plans to use.... I obviously would be more than delighted and willing to do so. BUT....

I'm kind of not sure whether it be, how can we put this.....appropriate, for me to even think of actually really copying a panel from the Atom. Although I guess it be much more appropriate than to just give him my fenders to put on....

can any of you atom owners here, give me some of your feelings towards this please, As I have no desire to insult any of you, or the Ariel people, for that matter, by helping him in this way.

Keep in mind, that this Atom owner had to part from well in access of a R1,000,000 ZAR for the honor to own a real Atom here, and for him to get his fenders replaced every time from across the pond, probably would end up costing him more than what I sell my complete car for....

My vote is to help him.

Make him an aftermarket / improvement part for his Ariel Atom.

Thanks.... thing is, I don't think there is much to improve on... other than making it wide enough to fit properly.... he talked about some air-vent slits of some sort, to reduce lift... I found that by actually just placing the fender correctly, such that it's angle of attack negates any lift it might generate, takes care of that problem....

I mean lets face it, these fenders don't do squat for keeping your wife out of a nice refressing cold shower while you take a turn through a puddle.... :)

also don't do much for the swift and painfull punch in the ribs that follows emediately after the shower... :D
