Hi Karlo

I'm in!

A big thanks for setting up this forum as we have been squatting on the Atom Forum for too long.

I am not sure if you are aware but KTM UK released the delivery schedule yesterday.

All 100 Dallara X-Bows will be delivered in August possibly with a few exceptions to those that have requested cars for events, runs, they are booked on.

Next 100 (standard) X-Bows will be delivered in September and the following 100 in October.

So as you can see - an aggressive delivery schedule although I am seriously looking forward to collecting mine.

It was great to get the call asking if I would like to move up the list to car no.54 which will be the first in the UK.

What car number will you be receiving?

Welcome PT

No X-Bow for me!! I have small budget for now. Once you get your KTM X bow do you have to get City State "sva" approvals to drive it still, or is approved as is?

No 'sva' type approvals needed for the UK as it will be road registered and ready to go out of the box. Apparently there are some countries where the X-Bow will not be type approved although I think KTM are working on them, like France...

Your superlites looks nuts - what is the 0-60 time?

Welcome PT,

That's exciting news about your X-Bow! What's the difference between a Dallara and the standard X-Box?

I'm one of the ones that has already place an order for the SL-R and hopefully it should be arriving in a week or two. The 0-60 times are going to vary a lot as the owner gets to choose what engine he/she wants. As long as the engine is from a FWD platform and relatively small (4 cyl.) it will probably work.

Based on the web site here:
http://www.060calculator.com/
The car (with driver) at 1500 pounds and 200 hp (at the crank), using RWD, it comes up with 3.8 seconds. If you get the engine up to 300 hp it calculates it around 2.9...
At 4 seconds, that is a pretty blistering acceleration, so probably best to start with 200 hp.

I have spent a bunch of time driving a GT2 and 360 Modena which are both around the 4.0 range and that speed is crazy on the street. I could not imagine what 3.0 feels like.

Hi Skibum

We have a few things in common like hooning around in a GT2 (580bhp) and I have just bought my wife an '05 Cooper S. How much fun is that car...

The X-Bow will be pushing 240BHP and weigh in at 750Kgs with figs as you mentioned around the 3.8secs,0-62mph. It will top out at around 135mph which could be an issue when I take the car touring soon with 23 x 997 GT3's, 4 x F430 Scuderias and 4 x Gallardo Superleggeras - Sooo looking forward to that - (Mid July, Monza and The Nurburghring)

The trick feature on this car is the downforce - 250Kgs at around 110mph! So you need big balls to plant your right foot into the corners, increase speed and therefore downforce! Complimentary KTM Driver training planned for July in Austria - nice touch.

Hi PT,

finally also arrived at Exocars (think it's time for a dedicated X-Bow board).

how will you be touring the X-Bow in Mid-July when delivery is in August?
And why will you be in July on the KTM Driver Training? I'll be there next week!?

Cheers, Nico

Hi Nico

No guaranties that I will be touring europe in a X-Bow in July - wishful thinking possibly... I will have to wait and see. I am booked on a BIG tour along with 35 Supercars.

I was offered driver training in early July but had to decline as will be working in San Francisco at that time. Next week would work for me so will ask KTM tomorrow.

You ready for yours?

My car has just been confirmed for delivery in early August which means that I will not have the X-Bow for the 5 day tour to Monza and the Nurburghring :-( in mid July. In the meantime I am hoping that KTM will lend me a factory car for the run...

Lend you a factory car?!?!
I would be extremely surprised if they would do it...

You can't beat free advertising and PR as the car will be driven through 5 countries, 2 International race tracks and major European cities in 5 days.

We will have to wait and see...

Just back from the European Rally (Its not a Race) after a crazy week crossing 7 countries in 5 days. Drove with my brother in his BMW Z4M which was the slowest car in the group. 23 x 997 GT3 RS's, 2 x Ferraris (360 Stradalle), 2 X Lambo Gallardo Superleggera's, 671bhp mustang and some M's.

We had the Monza track hired for the day although NO rules... entering the 30mph chicane 4 abreast was fairly entertaining with cars undertaking and overtaking.... not me of course. 5 casualties that day which was on the cards given how fast the circuit is. 4 of the GT3's and one of the 360's although nothing too serious. Arrived at the Nurburgring a few days later where it was raining stair rods. Managed one lap with the circuit covered in standing water before they closed it. :-( Check out the Nurburgring merchandise as they are selling Black and orange T shirts and polos aswell as baseball caps etc... Will look great in an Orange/Black X-Bow.

Sadly KTM where unable to provide a car for this run although given the fact that it rained constantly in Germany I was soooo grateful not to be in a X-Bow at that time. The day before we were in the Alps in glorious sunshine on the Stelvio and others amazing mountain passes - pure driving nirvana. Although we didn't cross any time zones I have felt jet lagged all week as the parties were legendary and the driving awesome. Off in the X-Bow to the Route Napolean, Milau, Ventoux etc.. in early October - Can't wait...

Looking more like early September now although I am not too fussed as long as the car is 'finished' and fault free.

Still no delivery confirmation for the Dallara cars although it appears that KTM will be delivering all 100 cars at the same time... We'll have to wait and see.

Early August... that's kind of a laugh!
Got a call from KTM germany last week. She told me that it would be second week of August. We also have to get the car delivered, since we had to pay Austrian tax if we picked it up at the plant.
And against what I've been told in Austria, there will be NO common event for the Dallara owners. Dunno - f***in confusing.

P T

Originally I was going to collect mine from Austria but have decided to get it delivered to UK. Strange how no one has mentioned the fact that we will have to pay Austrian tax if we collect from the factory...

The X-Bow got a 3min airing on Top Gear last night so not sure if you saw that. It was a very unbiased introduction to the car although they didnt drive it.

So... early August - not long now...:thumb2:

Early August? Damn, second week was a typo. I meant second half of August... for the event. And then they have to arrange shipment. And this is going to take some time as well :(

I am presuming that my X-Bow will be in my garage sometime in September - Just as the summer in the UK fades away...

Seeing as I can't sell my M3 V8 I am in no rush.

It was also hard for me to sell my Boxster S. Sold it two weeks ago, 4k under my initial offer :(
Hard times for sportscars!

Have you seen how KTM rised prices? A KTM with Dallara opts would now cost 98k compared to 65k we paid! This is nuts!!

September delivery for you now, PT?? That means I won't see mine till October!!! :thumbdown2:

Is this info from Jeff? Not happy about that. Am getting a little frustrated at the delays now. Not too enthusiastic about taking delivery of a car with no roof at the beginning of an english winter!!

Dan

No confirmation from KTM as September was my guestimate.

Jeff has 'suggested' that my car may be ready in the 3rd week of August although not yet confirmed.

We have to be grateful that KTM have not increased the price of our cars as a result of the Euro fluctuations over the last 12mths. I would have to walk away if they did that so just as well the price is fixed....

£4K under your target price is a shocker on a Boxter which has some of the strongest residuals in the industry! It looks like I am about to lose £15K over 9mths on my M3:omg:

Not worth thinking what I could have done with that money
-Annual membership with P1 car club...
-Raced a fully serviced Caterham for the season...
-Chartered a 85ft Manhattan Sunseeker with some 'friends' for the day in the Med.

Its still a great car.:run:

FINALLY spoke with the factory today and received confirmation of BUILD Date.
KTM have built 90 LHD Dallara X-Bows and will start building the UK RHD cars wk commencing 15th September 2008.
HOWEVER the type approval paperwork was sent to the UK dept transport on MOnday this week and noone knows how long this process takes.
SO - the car could be built but not have the legal approval/registration in time.
Either way Scott and I are keen to fly to Graz, collect the cars and drive them back.
Looks like we will be the proud owners around the 20th-30th September.:run:

Do you need UK approval before you can legally drive the X Bow home?
