On some kit cars there is the vented disk others not. I wonder what weight makes the turning point to vented?

did they really do this for weight issues or for cooling issues?

My thought is during braking, heat generated from a 3k lb car is different than a 1500 lb car. Therefore no need for vented disks????

Thats what im thinking. your not going to genernate that much heat compare to a 3k lb car. So i dont htink theres really a need for Vented Discs. But i mean the rotors are Rotational Mass so i guess it might be lighter and thats Good weight to loss. So i guess it could be a Good thing then.

remember that vented rotors are seldom less in mass than their solid counterparts...
Also... a lighter car, can now accelerate so much faster, reaching higher speeds, in shorter times, from where they will also need to be stopped faster and more frequently....
