I have read through most of this site and I am really interested in building a car like this. I have seen much about registration but nothing about insuring such vehicles. What are the hiccups and the things that an insurance company might want to know or not know about.

I am sure that there are some on here that have dealt with these cars and other kit type cars. Thanx for your input. Jaysin

I insure my ginetta through Parish Heacock insurance (www.parishheacock.com). they base their rates on having only good drivers and the car being insured as an 'extra' car (every driver in the household has to have a regular car). You also get no coverage for people driving less than 10 years, and limited use of the insured car (3500 miles per year IIRC). The policy I have is good for an agreed value of $20k and costs me $250 per year.

Oh, I should also mention that Progressive also covered my Atom for a short period of time. They were expensive though. But if you currently have a plan with them you can add coverage for a kit car on their website. It says "add a kit car, sand rail or dune buggy" or something like that as one of the options for adding a new car
