I'm pretty certain the Ariel Atom's weight is more than that, more like around 620kg I seem to remember... that saying most sites on the net are quoting your figure, I'm pretty certain its more though.

I have been looking into this, apparently the 456kg figure, was of the first incarnation with lightweight wheels, no fenders, no oil, no coolant, not even a drop of fuel in the tank.... yet it had the ability to put out 300 Hp, if you had the supercharger on.... :awais:

how dry weight can be used when calculating the Power to mass ratio of a car... That's a good one, never thought of that trick.... :cool3:

hopefully someone with more credibility than me, on this matter, will enlighten us as to how they get so much power out of clean air.....:coolnana:

I would think after the cars I have built and from that experience that 600+ would be a realistic figure with a 2 litre and supercharger.

My last sports racer not disimilar to an early Radical with 1100cc bike motor and no reverse and was 420kgs race ready, no fuel.

A Radical SR3 with Busa engine is near 500kgs with reverse and lights so even a 120hp Atom to be 465kgs is pushing things a bit I think, still a weigh bridge ticket stops the argument - any owner out there up for it?

Does anyone know of any turbocharged Atoms, because I'm sure the honda k20 can give more than 300hp?

There are 4 soon to be 5 known turbo'd Atom's. One honda in the UK stating 400 HP. Mine, and two in Puerto Rico with turbocharged ecotecs. One of the ones in Puerto Rico is near 500hp

There is a rotrex supercharged Atom in California. He is getting near 500hp I would say that rotrex is the way to go with the hondas, and turbo is the way to go with the ecotec.

I'm at 375 crank HP with 15psi. I have done 420 CHP on the dyno at 25 PSI. the engine is built for 30 psi...

The pics below show the rotex'd Honda (orange one with slicks and the engine), Mine ( with the green engine cover), the UK turbo honda (black) and the two others are the Puerto rico ones
