Hi all,
I am mechanical engineer as a day trade, enjoy building and have adequate shop in the three car garage.
I have been racing for 20 years in road racing, first in Finland and last 10 or so years here in US. I have been attending SCCA and NASA Spec Miata series, Nasas ST series and Autocrossing quite a bit along with being an instructor for various car clubs.
I have been interested in Lotus Seven type cars for a long time, and in 2004 I bought a frame from CMC. I was one of the lucky ones to receive everything I paid for before the company went bankcrupt. The parts were combined with Miata and in July 2005 I had my first wheel to wheel race day with built Seven. After couple of years of development the car was competetive in NASA ST-1 class with turbocharged Miata drivetrain, 10" slicks, and completely revised suspension and overall layout. The high speed courses were still troublesome, any long straight and I felt like standing still at 142 mph. At 2007 I went to 16 weekends of racing, and that was a bit too much for one man operation with family and full time work. I got tired of the constant maintenance, prep and repairs. I liked the car, but I had created a monster with data acquisition, engine management, electronic boost control etc. I kid you not, at the end I had 3 USB connectors in the car to adjust engine management, gather data or adjust boost curves. Please don't go that route. :)

Anyway after returning to basics (Boss Hoss motorcycle with 6.3 liter carburetted V8, too much power, but all mechanical and no pressure to race on certain date and time), I would like to put something together again. I have very understanding wife since they both occupy my garage, the bike and the currently unused Seven, which is under process of simplify.
You guys have brought back the itch to do something for that Seven and maybe get into something new.
Thanks for reading.
ps. I see thata here are some familiar names from MiataTurbo.net, thanks for your help couple of years ago.
