That setup has much more potential than 340whp. The 263 duration cams and extrude-honed stock intake manifold definitely are holding it back. But otherwise that engine has been properly prepared and will take a lot of beating for a long time.

AEM engine management can be difficult to dea with. Knowing or having a tuner that is good with AEM makes it easier. My opinion is to sell the AEM and use a more user-friendly tuning platform such as ECMLink.

I would NOT use that Unorthodox crank pulley. Either a Fluidampr or a stock unit so you have the proper damping of the crankshaft vibrations.

If you purchase that car complete just for the engine, wiring harness and ECU you can easily get your money out of it on the rest of the parts.

The owner said that it has been detuned to the 340. But he said that he had to mix racing fuel for the 386hp tune that he first had and it was a PITA.

About the AEM tuning. Will I even need to mess with any tuning provided it is runing properly when I install it? How often do you have to mess with these things?

I think I noticed that you are only in Ohio, Indiana isn't that far..... I may have to find out what kind of beer you drink....LOL !!!!

The funny thing is I live in Indiana! But I am from Cincinnati and where I live is a scant 20 miles from Cincy so I don't bother putting Aurora, IN....

I have no experience with AEM engine management. What I know about it is purely from other people's experiences with it. Technically you should be fine with the tune that is already in the ECU.

With the supporting modifications present on that engine, 368whp should be no problem on pump gas. If the car has a small intercooler or the fuel lines are not upgraded from the factory size then yes it would be difficult to squeeze out 368whp. Remove the restrictive factory banjo bolts in the fuel system, maximize the intercooler and get a decent set of 270 degree duration or larger cams and 400whp would be no problem.

Do you think that 10k miles with the unorthodox pulley setup could have caused any problems already?

It could but likely did not.

I will introduce a random thought to this: There is a master tuner of Evo's and 4G63's who lives near me. Have you heard of Mellon tuning? I've met the guy several times. If anyone ever needed a tuner he might be someone to consider.

Thanks Gage, I may need a tuner later but now the reason I asked about the motor is because I am trying to figure out if I should purchase a motor already built or a nice new stock rebuild for 1/2 the price and consider later upgrades.
I think Shaun is leaning towards the nicely built engine that I posted. The problem is the $800 shipping fee that is KILLING me.:thumbdown2:

I like building my own stuff. If you have the means to do the work yourself and the desire then the savings is just great. Let's you have more money to go even faster. LOL

For $800 I could procure an engine and totally rebuild it using stock replacement parts. But it would be more work than buying an already freshened or built engine.
