Karlo and anyone interested in a V-Storm: What do you guys think about placing a multi kit order. If we could get a couple people together interested in purchasing a kit we could consolidate shipping and maybe even work out a discounted price with Simon. I am interested in the WR3 version so this "group buy" would be for all WR3 kits. By doing it this way we would also have a larger support group to work through issues, bounce ideas off each other, and share resources we come across during our builds. I'm in the process of figuring out exactly what I all need to purchase from SDR in order to build the WR3. At 1st glance WRX STI engines seem to be pretty easy to find here in the states. Let me know if anyone is interested and we'll go from there.
Thanks!

Steve good idea. There has been lots of emails / interest. Maybe a group buy would help with decision.

If price is right I might be interested. I have a 4g63t motor( car actually) purchased if that would work. It would have to be a good deal since I am planning on building my own frame. Let us know SOOOOOONNNN!!!!!!!:thumb2:

This is a great idea.

Also, I think your 3 seat design is one of the best Exocar ideas out there.

With 7 orders you guys should get a great deal! Maybe the recession really is over? How does a group buy work? Are all the kits delivered to a single point and then each buyer is responsible for their kit delivery at that point? I'm surprised that there are so many buyers that I don't recognize from the forum regulars.

Simon is working on a price.

If the exchange rate was not 1.6, the Vstorm would by flying off the shelf IMO.

I have been in contact with Simon and he has shared with me some preliminary pricing for the kit I'm interested in. The pricing looks good and although I don't know all the details I can tell you Simon has been very helpful so far and he is doing what he can to provide a discount to the 1st wave of V-Storm kits to the US.
If all the details work out I plan on placing my order in the next two weeks.

HI everyone Simon here from SDR Sportscars, sorry its took a little while to work out the costings and kit format, but I think its important to get it right and include the right amount of parts,to negate the need to have a 2nd shipment of parts. So basically I have listed everthing that i think is a must have item as the minimum order. Then I have seperated items thats you can source in the USA,or still get from me if you like.

If you require the priceing information please contact Karlo or myself directly.
The biggest issue i forsee is choosing a common port for the kits to come to,as this will save on the shipping, or depending on how many cars get ordered, It may work out that a few cars go to one port shared shipping, and some go to another and so on. The discount I am giving should give you free shipping effectively and some dollars spare !!!

I hope people genuinley interested will come forward and make the most of this opportunity. I will leave the offer open for a reasonable amount of time, but it will not be open indefinatley. For these price to go ahead I ideally need at least 3 people to committ, We have one with Steve so two more and the V-Storm will finally make it to the shores of the USA.

Anyone needing any questions answering by me directly i am happy to do either by E-mail info@sdrsportscars.co.uk PM, or on this thread.

Thanks to all for your continued interest in the V-Storm.

Cheers Simon.

PS Gage thanks for your kind comments on the Design, one witch will interest you we have a customer car in build 510bhp,should make for interesting driving, might be quick enough for you Cage !:thumb2:,

Thanks guys to those of you who have so far requested the pricing, I hope you all think its a good deal and that it compares favourably.
Any comments suggestions Welcome. Anyone unsure and sitting on the fence please come forward, request the price list and have a look. It may suprise you ! Finally anyone seriously considering it, if you post on here what port would work for you for your kit to be deivered to, other people may come forward as they may want to ship to the same port, and savings will be bigger. As to ship 2 kits is cheaper than shipping 2 kits speratley, and so on.
If there is a common port for 3 or 4 of you it will even get cheaper, but we need to talk to each other and let other people know our thoughts so hopefully this may move things forward. I think in fairness to the people who are serious and to myself. I will leave this offer on the table until the end April. If I dont put a deadline time on it there is the danger that this could drag on and on, and its not fair to make people wait who may have made a descion to buy. This should be enough time for people to come to a descion and do any research they need. If by then we have some orders great if not. I will have to look at again in the future if the level of interest changes and there are some serious buyers out there. If you ned anything please dont hesitate to contact myself or karlo

Onwards and Upwards !

:D

Any East Coast port would work for me. Straight into Detroit,MI would be ideal.

Steve -
FYI-
The Carlisle PA USA show starts on 5/20/11.

You might find it helpful if you could plan your trip to the UK to visit the Stoneleigh UK show in early May or the Newark UK show in mid June instead of the Detling show.

Chet

PS - Hope your UK trip is a great experience.

Well, this thread seems to have gone silent. Simon, I sent you a personal e-mail to the address in your post but haven't heard back. Is this group-buy deal still in the works? How many commitments do you have? How many in the south-east? I live 10 miles away from Port Canaveral, is that a ship-to possiblity? So many more questions....

Hi Dc Brasil,

Did you send me your mail on Monday the 18th ?
I was about to respond to it this morning I have been on vacation only got back on the 19th so just playing catch up.
I will e-mail you the group buylist, for you to have a look at and consider to the e-mail address you have sent.

For everbody elses information who may be watching this post with interest,to date I have 6 or so interested partys to the point where they have PM me for the pricelist, and asked their own questions,so I guess they are still considering which is fine as these kind of descions cant be rushed.

I think it would be useful if people still giving it some serious consideration would name there port choice for shipping, so we can see if there is likely to be anyone wanting to ship to the same port. I would also like to point out that even if you go it solo the savings should be enough to still give you free shipping at least.

So far Steve is the only person who Has made a serious committent and is flying from Detroit to have a look at the engineering facility and to test drive the car, to make his final descision.

Anybody else wanting to test drive the car and do the same is is welcome.

Heres one to think about. It may seem like a long way but if you can get a cheap fight to Manchester Airport $400 - $500 dollars return then its not much in the great scheme of things,if you are going to spend in excess of $10,000 it makes sense to spend the above to satisfy yourself that the car is everything that you expect and want it to be, and that it ticks all your boxes, especially in terms of the performance, handling, and in the looks, and that you can fit in it comfortably, just a thought !

Just so its clear here is the deal. Prices as per the group buy pricelist.Deposit to order is 50% down of what your order total is,balance due 2 weeks prior to shipment. As people are still deliberating and some have asked for a bit more time I will extend the offer until Monday the 16th of May to give people more time.
Once again thanks to everyone who has shown an interest and your continued support for the V-Storm. Lets hope we can get to see some cars in the USA soon.

Finally a little bit of news as well as winning complete kitcar of the year magazines car of the year, we have just received another prestigious award in recognition of our product BAE Systems (British Aerospace Engineering) Design and Innovation award 2011 at the Oldham One Business Awards.

Just to confirm the order ratio, we have about the same 6 interested to one ordered ratio. Fluffy stuff is pretty dominant here.

Now that I have seen the V-storm in person I can tell you...I'm impressed. The level of detail put into the design, the quality of the fabrication shop, and the overall driving experience are all top notch. The car was very responsive and the acceleration was mind boggling.
I've sent Simon my down payment with an estimated delivery of September 2011.

Hi,
I have just recently become aware of this car and have been wanting to do a kit car build for quite some time but never really found one I liked enough, until now.

First off, did this group buy ever go through and if so how was it done?

I was also wondering if I could get some pricing information and what the kit includes, I could just have it PM'd to me.

smhammen

The group buy never did work out. There was interest but not enough to put together a group purchase. I think the main reason for people not going through with buying is the fact there is not a V-Storm in the states yet. Well I am happy to report there is now! I took delivery 3 weeks ago of the 1st V-Storm to hit North America. I started assembly about a week ago and already made some good progress, you can see the build at: http://www.xsconcepts.com/

As far as kit pricing I will let Simon field those questions for now. If you have other questions regarding the kit, registration for street use, shipping, or anything else, I am happy to try and get you answers.
