So I've been looking around at ecotec LNF motors for a little while and they seem like a great option, but what are people doing about the transmission above the 285ft/lbs mark?
The cobalt and G6 forums are littered with posts about F35 and F40 transmissions going to crap, but no one seems to have a real remedy or solution. Has anyone heard something?

Weird-- GM provides a full warranted LNf packaged product at 340 tq. Wonder if it is defect or abuse.

Has anyone had problems with the F35s or F40s where the power was above the rated transmission load?

I do not know about the F40, but, the weakness of the F35 is case flex. It is not very thick or strong and does not have any gusseting. I suspect it is the same with the F40. Some of the Cobalt guys have blown them up in high traction situations rolling a lot of torque through the box. Welding ribs in the case substantially lessens this. I know the very next question will be for a picture. I don't have one and I wish I had done it to my F35 when it was out getting the Quaife gear set.

LOL, my next question was going to be what you're using the F35 in with the quaife gear set...

Sweet,
I do have an off-topic follow up for you though... How had is it to register an Ariel (or ex-cars for that matter) in WA? I'm hoping to get one or put one together in the next few years and I'm kindof wondering what I'm in for...

Didn't notice that you were a local. For me it was walk in and register. I was transferring title from another State

As an ex-owner of a Grand Prix with many ZZP parts. I can attest to the quality and support of ZZP. Zooomer, the owner, is a stand-up guy. They're not like the other un-named Grand Prix mod supplier with low quality, unproven, poor products.
