Hello Fran

When can someone purchase your kit?

How many kits do you expect to make this year?

Karlo,

we are taking orders starting next week......

Our lead time is 4 weeks and that will drop to 7-10 days by March....

We have sold upwards of 50 cars per year in recent years and with the interest in the SL-R we expect to be able to sell 25-30 or more Roadsters in 2008

The News:

The Body panel are currently being finalized and stock piled for future orders.

The K engine we received without the trans :hscratch: Bugger. So we are working on getting a trans or complete turn key engine from the Engine guy. A complete engine is the preference so that the "package" can be setup with header / exhaust , engine wire harness etc.

The delays are from the Honda Engine vendors. We have spent 3 months trying to source the "right" engine vendors and create a longterm relationship at the right price, which is still in the works.

The only planned "prototype" will be the Honda K at this time. As we think this setup will be the most popular. :vtec:

My suggestions for now is to monitor this thread for Answers and Questions or email me.

No one will take delivery until all of details are finished.

The weeks seem to pass quickly with delays and setbacks so be Patient!!

No worries Fran! When YOU are ready to sell then we should be ready to buy. If you are not ready to sell for another four weeks you will ikely have my deposit by then. I'm betting that if the finished product looks very similar to the prototype rendering you will get some orders from south Florida after people see my car rolling the streets! I am not planning on having the car for track purposes (although I would like to go do a few track days), so I am looking forward to making it the best street car around. So as far aspricing, I know the basic package is $16k +/- for the roller, plus wheels, engine, and trans. The only options I have seen mentioned are a winshield ($1,000 I think), and the double adjustable shocks for around $750. So a roller with the windshield, and upgraded shocks would be a little under $18,000. That's a smokin' deal, and the one that I would go for! If the windshield is not an option, I might have to rig something up for the Florida DMV, but I haven't heard anything definite onthat front yet.
Don't rush, whenever you are ready let us know.

 No pictures. Fran has another surprise with the Body, so I need to be tight lipped....

Let me guess an engine shroud? The only thing lacking that makes the slr perfect imo.

Wow I wish I had the kind of money it takes to buy a car I haven't even seen yet. Its been a month and a half since the real pics were supposed to be released and not even a new release date has been mentioned. I think its a good idea to get things right the first time but leaving potential customers with a only cgi pic for months is just mean. :poke:

Looking at Fran's body of work, its not a real long jump of faith. Besides no two of these cars are going to be finished the same, (just look at most true kit cars, FFR's GTM for example) and his finial product is just the starting point for the customer.

But I to would love more pictures.....

That is one of the most convincing selling points I gathered from my visit to RCR, seeing the shop, the projects under construction, talking to the techs and builders. Fran and his team already have a tremendous body of experience building race cars. They've been doing it for YEARS. There are many examples of finished, highly technical, and superbly performing cars that they have already built and and gone out the door.

The Superlite Roadster is simply a mini version for RCR of what they have already been doing for years.

Bring it on Fran.
