Aaaaarrrggghhh!!! Stupid LNF!!!
Vince from Trifecta tune has been helping me quite a bit with my car. Hopefully, I'll have it sorted and also running 325hp. Fingers crossed....
Awesome new engine choice! I was wondering when that was going to happen...

Yup. Extremely frustrating. I have steep learning curve ahead of me.

Don't know how, but somehow I am going to get me a SL-Razor. Hopefully sooner than later... Just need to rent or buy a house with a garage! The new engine choice just makes it all the more harder to wait!

No Fran with the basic turbo kit will make over 400hp. my goal is 400whp i think that will be a good # and around the same toque.
Im getting excited, then i keep thinking of how much work i have to do before i can drive it.

The cool thing about this engine is actually the transmission. I'd LOVE to have one of those puppies. That said, I've jumped through enough hoops to get the DISI motor running that--given the chance--I'd subtract 100hp for a simple install in a heartbeat.
These new direct injection engines, with a system of inter-connected computers throughout the car and their overcomplexity are just a pain in the butt. If the auto makers chose to support a healthy aftermarket engine program--like you see with with the Chevy and Ford V8's, it would be a different story. But the OEM's pretty much give zero help for these complex machines, leaving us small guys to flail in the wind. Damn.
Sure hope the VW mill is a different story.

Fran, i have an ariel atom II chassis, and i was toying with the idea of putting the powerplant of a 2008 vw gti with dsg, the dsg would be the selling point for me. how is that build going? and who's doing the electrical, wire harness, stand alone ecu?
thanks

Would also like to see an update on this. Dad and I are in the final planning stages of our first father son project in about 15 years. K20, 4G63, or this....decisions decisions.

Decisions... Decisions...
K20: This engine has soul. She sings to you. It almost puts tears in your eyes when you push it past 8000 rpm.
4G63: This is the powerhouse engine. There are multiple SLRs that run this engine. You can't go wrong with this power plant. Huge potential power at bargain basement prices.
VW w/ DSG: A technological marvel. It's like having F1 tech (but so is the K20). However, there isn't as much aftermarket support for it compared to the upper two.
If you're serious about buying an SLR, I'd recommend going directly to the source. Talk to Fran about the choices and costs involved with using the VW. The K20 and 4G63 are pretty much "purchase and drop in".

I'll add my .02 for the vw setup....you can make great, and I mean great power with just a tune and downpipe. The DSG is awesome, however, I have heard they are only good for about 100k miles and then they pop. When they do, it is a pretty penny.
