I know its not "mirrors and bodywork" but it sure will make building Mako's go a lot quicker. Almost done and I have to say this has been much harder than building the car itself.

Oh and if your wondering its not orange because I like orange (It was black) then I discovered how easy it was to weld the car to the jig if you cant see it through a welders mask

Nice jig Pook! I just got back from a two week vacation in Alaska (our 20th wedding anniversary). Looking forward to catching up with everyone shortly. Also, I really like that paint work on the R/C car body. Your wife has talent!!!

Welcome back BT! and congrats on the 20th!! (I doubt my wife will let me live that long)

The Jig has been a challenge, Its three levels and had to be changeable in the back for different engine choices.

Normally I build a one off from a center line and start with the main tubes that everything attaches to, PITA! you have to climb over and around to build the rest This way the table is the first section (the floor and lower susp mounts) and work my way up bolting on sections as I need them! should work sooooo much better

Its not just a jig to hold the car, It locates all the tubes so I don't need to spend hours and hours making sure the left matches the right (even the gas pedal mount is cut and clamp!)

I am also trying to get the Busa done for Steve, when I took on his project it was the only thing on my plate, and he has been great in not minding that I stop and build the Mako but now Its time to get it done! not to mention I need to free up the space and time to finish the jigs and molds

My wife use to paint all kinds of crazy designs on those cars (You already know this I'm sure because you raced) but they paint backwards and on the inside of the body!
and at 50mph and 50ft away with 10 others racing we needed them as bright and contrasting as she could make them, so they're pretty wild to say the least!

Gotta go back to work now!

Actually, the second chassis is for Erik. Once the Busa leaves the shop a few little welded pieces and the prototype will be moving to the second table. Erik's frame will be assembled concurrently with the bodywork on the prototype. It might seem like a long road, but it has only been a few months in reality!

My bad I must have read that funny as in A second chassis for Erik...I'm a nut sorry. Yes the "next" chassis is Bionic's like Bill said.
I am sorry that tooling up is taking a while (I knew it wouldn't be quick but has to get done)
The good news is once it is the rest of the chassis should go sooooo smooth and little things like replacement body panels will fit any chassis because all the tubes and tabs have been jig set, etc...you guy's understand.
The Busa is not long now and Ill be 100% in Mako mode.
